Ranbir Kapoor is one of the most talented actors of this generation and he has proved the fact time and again. With his last release came out in 2018, the biographical drama Sanju, RK has been MIA since two years. This is due to the continuous delays in his upcoming movies Brahmastra and Shamshera both of which are high scaled spectacles waiting to grace the silver screens.
Recently on an interview with Rajeev Masand Ranbir was asked on the changed scenario of movies and how it has affected the opening status of cinemas. To which he replied “It’s a privilege to be an actor whose movies get big releases on silver screens and due to the pandemic there has been a major shift regarding the movies and their releases”.
He continued –
“There has been great content available on several of the OTT platforms and one can just watch any particular movie or show they’d like to see anytime in their homes and this has changed the definition of providing content. If there’s a story that needs to be told and experienced at a larger scale with an immersive experience, then nothing ever comes close to watching a flick in theatres. But if we talk about movies such as Wake Up Sid or Rocket Singh for that matter, maybe they’re not cinema material anymore and one would prefer to watch them on OTT platform”.
“Ultimately its on people and the audience who would like to return to the big screens when they feel safe and one cannot do anything about that”.
He was asked if he’s interested in the new OTT Space and whether we would be seeing RK doing an OTT content? Ranbir replied by saying –
” I am not shying away from anything and to be honest I’m just waiting for a good offer from the OTT space, actually I’m just waiting for an offer because I haven’t been asked for content related to streaming services. Its about time and sometime in the future sure enough. I’m just waiting for an offer right now”.
Well, I for once would definitely like to see Ranbir Kapoor in a miniseries or even a full fledged web series, it’s just that he hasn’t been offered anything from the OTT space. Let’s hope that changes quickly!
So there you go, with OTTs coming in vogue, every actor is trying to make their presence in the streaming market and it’s just about time when we’ll be able to see them!
