Randeep Hooda Perfectly Cast as the Arch-Nemesis to Salman Khan’s ‘Radhe’

By Binged Bureau - May 11, 2021 @ 08:05 pm

With just a couple of days left for the release of Salman Khan’s highly anticipated film ‘Radhe’, we thought it was high time to discuss about the film’s antagonist – a drug kingpin called ‘Rana’, which has been essayed by proficient actor Randeep Hooda.

Since the advent of literary fiction and subsequently motion pictures, writers have understood the importance of creating a formidable villain while narrating a classic good vs evil story. It is widely opined that the heroism of a movie hero is commensurate with how powerfully the film’s antagonist or the villain is portrayed.

For instance, in the recent blockbuster films like ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’, it is unlikely that these films would have achieved phenomenal critical and commercial success in case the antagonist was not as overbearing as the mighty Thanos.

The feeling of the apparent invincibility of the antagonist made our hearts actually care for the trio of Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor during the penultimate finale of ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

Similarly, in S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ and ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’, the films wouldn’t have probably had the same emotional impact if the main villain was not as powerful as the formidable Bhallaladeva.

Otherwise, the audience probably wouldn’t have rooted so much for Baahubali’s character in the electrifying climactic fight sequence in ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’. And it wouldn’t have created the same dramatic tension amongst the viewers.

Now let us come back to Radhe’s primary antagonist, which has been played by Randeep Hooda. The film’s official trailer started off with Randeep Hooda’s character sadistically saying the words “Good Morning Mumbai” after supposedly being the cause of the city’s burgeoning crime rate.

Furthermore, the glimpses we got from the thrilling washroom fight scene between Salman Khan and Randeep Hooda seemed to be stylishly executed.

The acting chops of Randeep Hooda needs no introduction. Randeep Hooda had previously featured as the relentless adversary to Chris Hemsworth in the 2020 action film ‘Extraction’. One of the film’s highlights was the back-to-back car-chase & knife-fight scene involving Randeep Hooda and Chris Hemsworth’s characters. His screen presence was at par with that of Hollywood hunk Chris Hemsworth.

We are delighted to see that the proficient actor has been getting meatier roles and the recognition he deserves. And we admire the filmmakers’ decision to cast Randeep Hooda as Radhe’s antagonist in the film. Salman Khan and Randeep Hooda have previously shared screen space in the acclaimed wrestling film ‘Sultan’.

‘Radhe’ is scheduled for a select theatrical release on May 13, 2021, alongside a simultaneous release on ZeePlex pay-per-view service (Zee5 OTT platform) besides releasing on DTH platforms.
