Actor Rani Mukherjee is gearing up for her role as Shivani Shivaji Roy, a senior officer in the Crime Branch of The Mumbai Police for the Hindi language Mardaani franchise, with its third installment. The cop universe discusses human trafficking and teenage abuse where the main lead attempts to investigate and capture the mafia involved.
The first two installments were very well-received and awarded several Accolades for the performances of the actors and the technical supervision. One which was released in 2014 was a sleeper hit by nature which brought its relevance in its second part thereby released in 2019.
The shooting for the upcoming part seems to begin in the first quarter (Q1) of 2025 when the actor shall also join. At present, the writing department is in the scrupulous process of the finishing touch which may pave the way to the pre-production stage.
The Mardaani franchise makes a different perspective of women empowerment which is the character driving the plot and being in the category of law-and-order crime drama genre. The areas that will provide expectations for the next installment will be its subtle performance, strong screenplay, and powerful villains with a no-loophole backstory. This will be a challenge for its crew.
This installment will be expected about the power-packed action sequences with potent and prevalent reasons for the emotion to deliver. Actors Jisshu Sengupta, Saanand Verma, and others reprising their supporting roles respectively.
The movie will be written and directed by Gopi Puthren who has also done its second part. Aditya Chopra would produce the flick for Yash Raj Films (YRF) Entertainment.
