Since the start of this month rumours were floating around of Ranveer Singh being in talks with S. Shankar for an interesting project. The news, though a rumour has the trade industry buzzing. And why not? Ranveer Singh is currently one of the biggest stars of the country and Shankar too is a celebrated director all over India. While nothing official was announced, there is a strong possibility that the duo might be seen collaborating for the Hindi remake of Shankar’s ‘Anniyan’.
The 2005 psychological thriller starred Vikram in the lead role of Ambi a sensitive and idealistic law abiding lawyer who can’t stand to watch anything unjust. The continuous negligence of the society towards important issues coupled with his childhood trauma drives him frustrated which leads to split personality disorder. Ambi develops two different personalities (3 in total). One of the self proclaimed Yamraj – Aparichit and other of a lover boy Remo. The movie was dubbed in Hindi as Aparichit and has gained a massive cult following over the years.
Seeing that Ranveer Singh is eyeing for a difficult role as that in Anniyan is really exciting. But the movie is nowhere to the starting line as the talks are at really early stages. Singh recently took a break from the shooting of Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus and went to meet Shankar to discuss the movie.
The makers are eyeing the movie to become totally relevant in today’s generation and thus the script will be rewritten keeping the basic core in it. Also the fact that the movie will be shot in big scales and it is reported that a top production house will be coming into play for the high VFX of the movie.
Since both the actor and director are busy in shooting for their upcoming works, if everything goes well the movie might arrive on floors next year. Shankar is occupied with his next with Ram Charan which will be a trilingual movie. While Ranveer Singh is busy shooting for Rohit Shetty’s mad caper Cirkus.
While nothing official is announced yet, one cannot be excited enough just from reading about the possibilities of collaboration. It will be interesting to see if the projects materialises, how Ranveer will approach the role.
