It’s been more than fifty years since India’s prominent film production house Yash Raj Films was founded by legendary filmmaker Late Mr. Yash Chopra in the year 1970. The company is presently run by Yash Chopra’s son and accomplished filmmaker Aditya Chopra, who has purportedly charted out a plan to celebrate Yash Raj Film’s golden jubilee aka YRF50, which was delayed by two years owing to the pandemic.
And the film which will be the central starting point of the YRF50 celebrations is none other than Ranveer Singh’s upcoming social comedy ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’. It was announced earlier this month that the film is now slated to release in theatres on 13th May 2022.
‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ has been written and directed by Divyang Thakkar in his directorial debut and is being touted as a social comedy set in Gujarat. The movie will see Ranveer Singh essaying the titular role of a Gujarati man named Jayesh Deshmukh aka Jayeshbhai Jordaar, who portrays an unlikely hero supporting the cause of women empowerment, in a film that will ostensibly be driven by an entertaining narrative style.
The underlying premise of ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ revolves around a shy man who gathers the courage to challenge society’s patriarchal elements in his hometown. The film’s story was reportedly based on a miracle script by Ranveer Singh himself. The movie also features Shalini Pandey, Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah, and Deeksha Joshi in important roles.
Besides ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’, YRF’s upcoming films’ slate includes some highly anticipated films like Akshay Kumar starrer historical film ‘Prithviraj’ (3rd June 2022), Ranbir Kapoor’s period action film ‘Shamshera’ (22nd July 2022), Shah Rukh Khan starrer actioner ‘Pathaan’ (25th January 2023), Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger 3’ (21st April 2023), and two more unannounced movies.
YRF has plans to celebrate the aforementioned films to mark’s the company’s glorious completion of 50 years of entertaining audiences. The production house seems to be confident of how ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ has turned out to be because that’s the film with which YRF50 celebrations will be kicked off.
Although the exact nature of YRF50 celebrations is not officially confirmed yet. All we know as of now is that the celebrations will bring the audiences closer to their stars and the plan would ostensibly include twenty fan events following the release of Ranveer Singh’s ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ on 13th May 2022.
