The hopes were high from ‘Ravi Teja’s ‘Mr. Bachchan’ the Telugu remake of Ajay Devgn’s Hindi film ‘Raid’ when it was announced but they were short lived as the trailer itself was disappointing let alone the film.
Converted into a massy film, shifting from the serious, intense tone of the original was quite over the top and that possibly led to ‘Mr. Bachchan’ bombing at the box office. Also, releasing it on the crowded Independence Day slot worked against the film.
‘Mr. Bachchan’ is now headed to Netflix for its digital premiere and to be honest, it will hardly cater to the OTT audience as well who look for more story oriented content than star focused one.
‘Mr. Bachchan’ is directed by Harish Shankar with a story by Ritesh Shah (‘Kahaani’, ‘Pink’, ‘Airlift’, ‘Raid’) and stars Ravi Teja, Bhagyashri Borse, and Jagapathi Babu in prominent roles.
Jointly produced by T. G. Vishwa Prasad, Vivek Kuchibotla, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Abhishek Pathak, and a Kumar Mangat Pathak under People Media Factory, T-Series and Panorama Studios respectively, ‘Mr. Bachchan’ will premiere on Netflix in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam on 12th September, 2024.
