The second season of Amazon Prime Video’s action crime series ‘Reacher’ premiered on the OTT platform last week. Until now, only the first three episodes are out for Season-2, but it is already being described as amongst the best shows of the year 2023 across various platforms. The remaining five episodes will be released on a weekly basis by Prime Video.
The impact of the show on the streaming audiences is so significant that ‘Reacher’ has bagged the top spot as the most popular title and the biggest hit of Amazon Prime Video for the year 2023. As per an official Twitter post by Amazon Studios, “REACHER is #1 in 2023 on @PrimeVideo across all movies and TV shows worldwide.”
There were some other well-made shows and films like ‘Gen V’, ‘Invincible Season-2’, ‘Deadloch’, and Indian series ‘Farzi’, which came out this year on Amazon Prime Video, but it looks like ‘Reacher’ has overpowered them all.
For the sake of comparison, the first three episodes of ‘Reacher Season-2’ have outperformed the whole Season-1 viewership and the feat was achieved in just three of Season-2’s release on Prime Video. So, just imagine the cumulative viewing figures after the entire Season-2 is out on the streaming service by 19th January 2024.
On the reviews front, ‘Reacher S2’ has secured a critics’ score of 100% so far on reviews aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes. On other hand, the opening season received a still impressive RT critics’ score of 92% but it’s behind the second season.
Based on Lee Child’s book ‘Bad Luck and Trouble’, the second season of ‘Reacher’ follows the daredevil adventures of former military investigator/tracker Jack Reacher (played by Alan Ritchson), who must unearth the mystery behind the brutal death of his former team member with the help of his old team members.
