Reacher Season 3 is shaping up to be an interesting blend of old and new faces, with the leading man, Alan Ritchson, returning as the brawny private investigator and former major in the U.S. Army’s military police, Jack Reacher.
Based on Lee Child’s novel Persuader, Season 3 is expected to follow its source material not too tightly, as previous seasons have served as faithful adaptations of Child’s books while also taking noticeable creative liberties to make the show more appealing to a modern audience.
Season 3 is not expected to feature the return of many past actors, as per Persuader’s storyline. However, we have seen the show’s creators break this mould by bringing back past actors in different seasons. For instance, Malcolm Goodwin’s Oscar Finlay appeared in Season 2. While his role wasn’t as significant as in the debut season, it was impactful and resonated well with viewers.
We don’t know whether we will see Goodwin in the upcoming season. Plus, there are rumours about Willa Fitzgerald reprising her role as Roscoe Conklin in Season 3. However, we have no official word from either Skydance Television or Amazon MGM Studios on this matter.
Given how Roscoe’s relationship with Reacher was left open in Season 1, we could see their romance rekindled in Season 3. However, it will be interesting to see how the makers handle Fitzgerald’s prominent character.
Speaking of returning actors, we also have Frances Neagley (played by Maria Sten), who could make her return in Reacher Season 3 as the protagonist’s most trustworthy comrade. A former member of the 110th, Neagley would certainly be an interesting addition, as she is not in Persuader. Plus, fans love her camaraderie with Reacher.
As for new characters, Paulie (played by Olivier Richters) will be the biggest threat Reacher has ever faced in the show’s history in Season 3. For one, Richters is nearly seven feet tall and is both stronger and bigger than Reacher. This scenario certainly aligns well with Paulie’s description in Persuader—he easily surpasses Reacher in both physical strength and height.
Paulie will be one of the forthcoming season’s primary villains, and he will likely clash with Reacher, possibly in the series finale. He is a central figure in the criminal organisation that the protagonist will attempt to infiltrate in Season 3.
Another important character in Season 3 will be Sarah Duffy (played by Sonya Cassidy). In the Persuader novel, her name is Susan Duffy. Sarah will be a talented DEA agent who shakes hands with Ritchson to take down a criminal organisation. Both may also end up sharing some romantic scenes together, as per Persuader’s storyline.
Reacher Season 3 is expected to premiere on February 20 on Prime Video with the first three episodes. The eighth episode (finale) will air on March 27. The release format for the third season follows the pattern of Season 2’s release, with the first three episodes opening the show and the remaining episodes premiering every week. This contrasts Season 1’s release format, as Prime Video dropped all of its eight episodes on February 4, 2022. Stay tuned for more updates.
