It’s a fun and happy day for K-Drama fanatics today. After the sweeping success of “Twenty Five-Twenty One” and “Business Proposal” (both shows had their finales this week), K-Drama enthusiasts are gearing up for another spree of two highly anticipated back to back shows today (9th April, 2022).
Two of the most anticipated shows from K-Drama land premieres today and both would be available on Netflix India and worldwide. The shows are none other than writer Noh Hee-kyung’s (Its okay that’s love, Live, Dear My Friends) writing come-back “Our Blues” and Park Hae-young’s return to K-Drama land” My Liberation Notes” after her most acclaimed show “My Mister” (2018). While Our Blues is a TvN show with around 20 episodes, My Liberation Notes is a JTBC Original with 16 episodes.
The star-cast of “Our Blues” evidently hints of a likely TRP and Netflix Trends topper. The show comprises of Lee Byung-hun (his return to TV after blockbuster Mr. Sunshine (2016)), Shin Min-a (after her successful stint in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha) , Kim Woo-bin, Cha Seung-won, Lee Jung-Eun, Uhm Jung-Hwa, Han Ji-Min and Kim Woo-bin. “Our Blues” takes on an omnibus-style drama, which tells the story of diverse characters whose lives are intertwined one way or the other set in Jeju-Island. And the premise pretty much explains the need for such a big star cast. All of the promo materials released so far brims of slice of life vibes. So, it’s safe to say that Our Blues definitely looks like it’s going to be our new comfort show. The icing on the cake is, BTS Jimin has composed one of the soundtracks for the series.
Writer Park Hae-young needs no introduction. Her impeccable writing in “My Mister”, a drama on platonic understanding, vulnerability and self-healing has had K-Drama land on a chokehold. So quite obviously her next will raise all eye-balls. ” My Liberation Notes” oozes mental and emotional liberation right from it’s title itself. Centred around three siblings and a stranger, the story marks the pursuit of freedom and peace of all the four characters from their dull, monotonous and clutched lives. Now this definitely looks like a binge-watch material for emancipation from our daily work-chores. The show stars Lee Min Ki, Kim Ji Won, Lee El and Son Suk-ku.
There are more than enough reasons for you to have your alarms ready. Just stop waiting and hop on the hype-train of both shows. Both the shows have a jam-packed star cast and is written by two of the most acclaimed and established writers from the K-Drama land. So quite obviously the expectations are high. We are excited for both the shows and let’s wait and watch if and how the shows will keep up with the expectations they’ve set with the audience.
