Netflix has reportedly cancelled Zack Snyder’s ‘Army of the Dead’ franchise, including its sequels and the animated series. Well, we saw it coming, didn’t we? Thanks to Rebel Moon movies!
The last eight months have not turned out very kind for Snyder. Since December 2023, Netflix has released four Rebel Moon movies (PG-13 and director’s cuts), and all four of these movies are universally butchered by critics across the globe. This debacle surely must have shaken Netflix executives’ confidence in the Justice League director leading another large-scale and expensive franchise.
According to What’s on Netflix, the media outlet recently talked with Zack Snyder about the status of the ‘Army of the Dead’ franchise. When asked about the franchise’s future, Snyder confirmed that the streaming service “quietly” pulled the plug on the franchise. It means that all plans for prequels, sequels, and the animated series have been buried. We can say goodbye to “Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas” and “Planet of the Dead”.
Released in 2021, Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead was a massive hit, attracting over 75 million viewers in its first month on Netflix. While not without its flaws, the film was undeniably entertaining, thanks in part to strong performances from Dave Bautista and Ella Purnell. Stay tuned for more updates.
