In a big development, two industry giants, T-Series and Reliance Entertainment, have come together for a mega deal worth approximately ₹1000 crore! Touted as one of industry’s biggest collaboration, it will include joint production of more than 10 films, comprising of both “big budget tentpoles as well as mid and small budget content rich films”.
Having worked on music marketing for over 100 films, T-Series and Reliance Entertainment are joining hands for the first time to produce films with different genres, production scales, talent and music. To be produced over next 2-3 years “the slate includes Hindi remakes of Tamil blockbuster drama and action thrillers, a mega historic biopic, espionage thriller, court room drama, satire comedy, romance drama and a film based on shocking true events, amongst others”.
The films comprise of three tentpole titles in addition to some high content films with talents from across the industry. The announcement, going by the pace of development, confirms “alignments with some of India’s biggest stars” and that “four to five films will have a comfortable big screen release worldwide, starting next year-2022.”
The studios will be collaborating with some of their previous partners like Rohit Shetty, Imtiaz Ali, Neeraj Pandey, Vikas Bahl, Vikramaditya Motwane, Anurag Kashyap, Ribhu Dasgupta & S. Sashikant along with other promising film makers like Pushkar and Gayatri, Vikramjit Singh, Mangesh Hadawale, Srijit Mukherji and Sankalp Reddy.
This giant partnership couldn’t have had a better timing. The past year and a half or so have been extremely disheartening and disrupting for the entire film industry which has somehow tried to cope up with the pressure by taking recourse to OTT. Now with this mega deal things are looking positive and on an upside.
Not just financially but this partnership between T-Series and Reliance Entertainment will help boost the morale of everyone associated with the industry and give them the confidence to keep hustling.
