Rajkumar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar starrer ‘Badhaai Do’, a spiritual sequel to the national award winning 2018 film ‘Badhaai Ho’ has set its theatrical release date and its going to be during the Republic Day weekend 2022. ‘Badhaai Do’ is co-written by Suman Adhikary and Akshat Ghildial and directed by Harshvardhan Kulkarni (‘Hunterr’, ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’).
Announcing the release date on Twitter Bhumi Pednekar wrote, “Theatre ready… Aap ready… Toh hum bhi ready…

Republic Day 2022 falls mid week on a Wednesday and the makers of ‘Badhaai Do’ haven’t revealed an exact date for the film’s release. But since John Abraham’s ‘Attack’ is scheduled to release in cinemas on the Republic Day 2022 itself and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Prithviraj’ on 21st January, 2022, a clash is inevitable.
While Attack’s action thriller theme with a soldier in spotlight and Prithviraj’s historical action drama genre lines more with the spirit of the national holiday that is Republic Day, ‘Badhaai Do’ will be the perfect wholesome family entertainer people wish to catch up on during holidays.
With such little gap between the three films this could turn quite tricky for both ‘Prithviraj’ and ‘Attack’, but the impact could be a little less for ‘Badhaai Do’ if it comes out in the post Independence Day weekend instead of pre.
This is because the next big film that is Aamir Khan’s Lal Singh Chaddha’, scheduled for Valentine’s Day release is more than two weeks ahead giving ample time for ‘Badhaai Do’ at the box office.
