Devery Jacobs from Taika Waititi’s teen comedy series, Reservation Dogs, has become the latest addition to Marvel’s Echo series. The upcoming Disney+ instalment has Alaqua Cox as the protagonist. She will reprise her role as Maya Lopez (Echo) in this one after appearing in the Hawkeye series starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld.
Jacobs is best known for playing Elora in Reservation Dogs. Her character is the most reliable and motivated one in the show. According to Deadline, the Marvel fanbase will witness her as a “resilient and strong-willed” character named Julie in the forthcoming Disney+ entry. The Canadian actor has confirmed her casting via her Twitter account.
Echo turned out to be a surprise package in Marvel’s Hawkeye series. She has the uncanny ability to copy a person’s movements and possesses photographic reflexes. As she grows older, she begins to think that Ronin (Hawkeye’s alter ego) murdered her father. However, she discovers that her adoptive uncle, Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, was responsible for her father’s demise during the final moments of the show.
Apart from Jacobs and Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox are also a part of the Echo series. Fans watched Echo shooting Kingpin in the Hawkeye’s finale. But did she really shoot him? The answer is no. Marvel just cannot eliminate Kingpin like that. So, we can expect another showdown between Daredevil and Kingpin in the show.
Devery Jacobs initiated her acting career with the USA Network’s show, The Dead Zone. But she gained worldwide prominence for her outstanding performance in Reservation Dogs. She has also starred in various shows like American Gods, The Order, Blood Quantum, Rustic Oracle, Rutherford Falls, and many more. And now, she is all set to appear in Marvel’s Echo series, expected to premiere on the Disney+ streaming service next year. Stay tuned for more updates.
