Resident Evil: The Series Netflix Seems To Have Forgotten About!

We all know that Resident Evil is one of the most adapted franchise there is. We already had the videogames and then entered the movies that went on to become super hit flicks. Now, it is all over the news how Netflix is taking in the brand and creating a series with it. Earlier there wasn’t any clarity as to what Netflix would do with the franchise but as time went on, it has been revealed that there might be two projects by Netflix that will be based around the Resident Evil Universe.

The two projects from the Resident Evil Universe will have one CGI animated series and another live action series. Netflix, off lately has been indulging a lot into increasing their animation section and they are taking the right measures to bring some wildly popular topics and stories into the game. The animated series is named as “Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness” and was revealed during the virtual 2020 Tokyo Olympics last year. Earlier it was revealed that this would be a movie, but later the clarifications from the makers showed that it would be a CGI anime series.

While this happens with the animated series, another news that is rapidly garnering attention, is the live action series of Resident Evil. The show will be set in two alternate timelines, the pre and post apocalyptic world. The series will focus more on the Wesker siblings who move to the New Raccoon City and discover the world as they get to know more about the evil things going around them. The news has been made that the first season will be 8 episodes long with each episode being 1 hour long.

It was also declared that the makers decided to start the shoot for the series from February 2021, but as of now there has been no news about any actors who will play the characters. Written by “Supernatural” showrunner Andrew Dabb, there has been no other news as to what will go on with the series. Dabb, though has hinted that there might be the entry of actors from the movies too.

People now are confusing the series with the upcoming Resident Evil movie, “Resident Evil: Reboot” set to be released in September, 2021. It is a long way till September but many are expecting that the series might start only after the movie is released.

It was in 2019 itself that the show was concieved and it was last year, when details about the series, like the plot and timings were made clear but other than that there has been nothing for the fans to look forward to. The only ray of hope for the die hard Resident Evil fans is the release of the “Reboot” movie in September.
