There is not much to go on with what the title says. Revivals and reboots have been a trend which has been going on and off in the Hollywood film industry over the past decade or so. But recently again, the trend has started sprouting up, be it confirmed renewals or just base rumors. Here’s what we know:
Animaniacs
The Warner Bro.s animated feature ‘Animaniacs’ is set to return this year. Steven Spielberg is set to executive produce the series along with Sam Register, President of Warner Bros. Animation and Blue Ribbon Content. The series is slated to come out on Hulu in November, with Hulu ordering 2 seasons, with the second set to come out next year.
Lizzie McGuire
Disney’s 2001 teen hit ‘Lizzie McGuire’ has started production on a third season. Disney+ has ordered the show with star Hillary Duff returning to the role that took her to prominence, but the production has been put on hold as one of the actors attached to the project, Terri Minsky has backed out of the series and will not be returning to the show.
Dexter
The serial killer drama ‘Dexter’ has been cited to return for one final 10-epiode season. Michael C. Hall will be returning to play our favourite forensic analyst Dexter Morgan. The previous season ended a little ambiguously for our main character and we can’t wait to see what the showrunners have in store for us next.
Special Mention: The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
The show that put Will Smith on the map ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ is set to return for a special reunion episode later this year around Thanksgiving, on HBO Max in collaboration with Westbrook Media. Most of the cast members have decided to return for this small project and it will be interesting to see this special “webisode”.
A few series have indeed gone through a few revivals as of late. ‘Will & Grace’ and ‘Fuller House’ have been revived for one final season each and have ended recently. But ‘The Karate Kid’ spinoff/revival ‘Cobra Kai’ is still going strong and has a huge fan following, ensuring it’s run for the foreseeable future.
