Rian Johnson To Direct Joseph Gordon-Levitt For ‘Poker Face’ Series

As the Oscar-nominated filmmaker Rian Johnson is gearing up for the release of the highly anticipated ‘Knives Out’ sequel later this year, he is also busy these days with the pre-production work for an upcoming television series ‘Poker Face’ at Peacock.

And now, Rian Johnson’s longtime collaborator Joseph Gordon-Levitt has reportedly (via Variety) joined the cast of the show. However, details about Joseph’s role in the show and the show’s precise plot details are currently not known.

Previously, in March last year to be specific, the ten-part series ‘Poker Face’ had cast the multi-talented actor-director Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll, Orange is the New Black). In the show, Natasha Lyonne will ostensibly be solving different murder cases in an episodic format.

‘Poker Face’ is not the first television series with which the show’s creator Rian Johnson and actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt have associated themselves. Earlier, Rian Johnson went behind the camera to direct a few episodes of the cult crime show ‘Breaking Bad’. Later, he went on direct feature films namely ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi’ followed by the Daniel Craig starrer whodunnit ‘Knives Out’.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt too has appeared in various television series such as ‘Comrade Detective’ (voice), ‘Mr. Corman’, ‘HitRecord on TV’, and most recently in anthology drama ‘Super Pumped’, where he played the role of former Uber CEO Travis Kalanick.

Besides, the Primetime Emmy winner is also known for starring in many popular feature films like ‘50/50’, ‘500 Days of Summer’, ‘Premium Rush’, Inception’, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, ‘The Walk’, ‘Snowden’, and ‘The Trial of Chicago 7’, to name a few.

Interestingly, this is also not the first time Joseph Gordon-Lewitt is featuring in a project helmed by Rian Johnson. The actor-director duo had previously collaborated in the latter’s feature film directorial debut ‘Brick’ and later in the sci-fi actioner ‘Looper’ co-starring Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt.
