Ridley Scott To Direct Speed-Like Action Thriller Movie ‘Bomb’

Despite being 86 years old, Ridley Scott is one of the busiest filmmakers in Hollywood these days. His latest directorial project ‘Napoleon’ was released in theatres last month. As of now, he is busy shooting his much anticipated ‘Gladiator’ sequel starring Paul Mescal in the lead role. Earlier this year, he was also in talks to direct Dwayne Johnson and Margot Robbie for a sci-fi adventure film ‘Starlight’.

And now, as per the latest update, Ridley Scott has been roped in to direct an action thriller movie which is based on a short story called ‘Bomb’ penned by writer-director Kevin McMullin, who will also lend his writing skills for the feature film adaptation.

The basic plot of the ‘Bomb’ movie will revolve around a hostage negotiator named Frankie Ippolito, who is brought back to duty in an emergency situation just a night before his wedding in London. Because a man who has parked himself in a construction site is standing on an unexploded bomb from World War II. The man wants to speak only with Frankie, with whom he shares a mysterious past. Now, Frankie must race against time to stop the bomber at any cost.

The film is touted to be on the lines of films like ‘Speed’ and ‘Dog Day Afternoon’. Although the movie’s story sounds like yet another race-against-time kind of thriller, but since a filmmaker of Ridley Scott’s caliber is attached to direct the project, we believe that it is going to be much more than just a regular Hollywood thriller.

Multiple reputed studios and streaming companies like Sony, Apple, and Netflix were vying for the project, but the ‘Bomb’ film adaptation has been acquired by 20th Studios. The movie’s source material has a massive potential to become a film franchise and the young actor who will be cast in it will be blessed with a fantastic role.
