Rings of Power Season 2 Gets A Release Window

Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 has received a release window. Premiered in September 2022, the series takes place thousands of years before J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings novels. It also takes inspiration from Tolkien’s LOTR appendices and explores the major events of Middle-Earth’s Second Age.

The release window for The Rings of Power Season 2 has been fixed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the second season will arrive on Prime Video in late 2024. Season 2’s exact release date will be revealed soon.

Prime Video’s take on Tolkien’s works does not share a direct connection with Peter Jackson’s LOTR trilogy and The Hobbit trilogy, as per the demands of the streaming giant’s deal with the Tolkien Estate. Yet, the series has used younger versions of film characters and similar production designs.

The Rings of Power has a jam-packed cast, comprising talents like Morfydd Clark, Lenny Henry, Dylan Smith, Markella Kavenagh, Robert Aramayo, Benjamin Walker, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Nazanin Boniadi, Charles Edwards, Charlie Vickers, and more. Amazon Studios and New Line Cinema co-produced the first season.

Season 1 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power received praise for its visuals, Bear McCreary’s score, and acting performances. However, many aspects of the show’s storyline were criticised, as many believed that they did not sit well with Tolkien’s work. Despite this, Season 1 earned a ‘fresh’ score of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 489 reviews. The Rings of Power Season 2 is expected to come out in late 2024. Stay tuned for more updates.
