Rings Of Power Season 2: Watch Out For Sauron, Galadriel, Celebrimbor & More

Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 definitely looks darker and edgier than the first season, as shown in the Season 2 trailer. “An evil, ancient and powerful, has returned.” That’s how Charlie Vickers’ Sauron has been teased in the latest clip. Apart from watching Sauron, the viewers also got a glimpse of other key characters such as Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Elrond (Robert Aramayo), Durin IV (Owain Arthur), Adar (Sam Hazeldine), Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards), and more.

Showrunners Patrick McKay and J. D. Payne have confirmed that Rings of Power Season 2 will focus more on the villains and explore the lore more deeply. The Season 1 finale opened our jaws in shock when it revealed Halbrand’s true identity, Sauron. The Dark Lord will disguise himself as a charming but cunning Elf named Annatar in the upcoming season. The character will also be seen making plenty of amends in the sophomore season. He will confront Galadriel, who is looking to take revenge on Sauron after how he betrayed her. Plus, he has a score to settle with Adar, the corrupted elf who truly believes he has slaughtered Sauron for control of the Mordor kingdom. These scenarios guarantee plenty of violence and high-stakes battles in Season 2.

The second season will also explore how the Dark Lord deceives the entire Middle-Earth into developing the powerful Rings of Power to control them with their usage. This scenario will lead to an epic and large-scale battle between the armies of the Elves, led by Gil-galad, Elrond, and Galadriel, and Adar’s Orc army.

Moreover, the forthcoming chapter will shed light on the mysterious and intriguing relationship between Sauron’s Annatar avatar and Celebrimbor, the legendary Elf-Smith who created the Rings of Power. Sauron will look to disunite the Middle-Earth societies to weaken them by leveraging an emerging Numenorean civil war and the rising greed of the Dwarves.

Harfoot Nori and the Stranger were last seen travelling to Rhun to unearth details about the latter’s origins. Markella Kavenagh, the on-screen Nori, discussed her character’s journey in Season 2 in her recent interview with Inverse:

“There’s a greater purpose she feels for herself, and potentially for the Harfoots, to find a better quality of life and to help them find a solid home. I think she’s got that in the back of her mind. It’s in the back of my mind as well.”

According to some rumors, Nori may eventually end up discovering the Shire in the second season. It seems like Rings of Power will also touch on the evolution of the Harfoots into the kind, lazy, yet brave Hobbits.

The first three episodes of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 will premiere on August 29 on Prime Video. Stay tuned for more updates.
