Hombale Films, the production house behind blockbusters like Kantara and K.G.F has confirmed that there will soon be a Kantara 2 and that it will be a Prequel to the film.
Rishab Shetty had written, directed and starred in the Kannada film that went up to acquire huge amounts of money at the box office. Rishab Shetty has comfirmed that he is now working on the script of the prequel.
Kantara has seen a historic and unprecedented success for a regional Kannada Film and it has been loved and admired by critics and audiences as well.
The film is deeply rooted in the mythological stories and folklore of remote parys of Karnataka and it masterfully tells the story of the conflict between some villagers and an officer from the forestry department about the protection of a local deity in the jungle.
We already had some glimpses of the past of that deity and it will be explored in vivid detail in the next movie.The prequel will be on the backstory of the deity and what deal it made with a regional king. It is not sure whether Rishab Shetty will be playing a role in the movie or not, but there will be more character introductions.
The success of Kantara was overwhelming, so there is a higher expectation from the next movie too. The makers have confirmed that Kantara 2 will have a higher budget than the previous movie because it has to be big and grandeurous and beautiful and it has to live up to the expectations of the fans.
