And it’s none other than a newly released Malayalam film on Prime Video India. We’re talking about ‘Rajni’, the Malayalam crime thriller film that has received rave reviews from audiences and decent reviews from critics. Interestingly, Rajni was also simultaneoulsy shot in Tamil as Aval Peyar Rajni. Only the Malayalam version is streaming on Prime Video India as of now.
Malayalam film ‘Rajni’ follows siblings Naveen and Gowri, who find themselves entangled in a web of chaos and danger, as they try to uncover a murderer’s identity. Malayalam star Kalidas Jayaram stars as Naveen, while Namitha Pramod plays Gowri in Rajni. Reba Monica John, Saiju Kurup, Ashwin Kumar, Karunakaran and Shaun Romy, among others, form the rest of the cast.
Apart from being a gripping crime thriller and cat and mouse chase, Rajni also casts a thought-provoking spotlight on the issues of mental health and body dysmorphia, both pertinent issues but left untreated, unaddressed and routinely brushed under the carpet for fear of stigma.
