Rob Lowe Hosts Netflix’s Attack Of The Hollywood Cliches!

Netflix dropped the trailer for an upcoming documentary, ‘Attack of The Hollywood Cliches!‘. The one-hour Netflix special will be hosted by Rob Lowe and it is expected to drop in a few days. The intriguing trailer was dropped on Netflix’s official YouTube channel and gives us a look into Hollywood history about how cliches were created by the American film industry (or how they popularised it). Check out the trailer, at the end of this article.

Montages. Spit-takes. Maniacal dialogue by villains who ends up revealing their whole plan. Fighting sound effects such as “bam” and “pow”. The ticking sound of a time bomb. And so much more. While we will likely not see how all of the above-mentioned cliches became a mainstay in Hollywood (and in other film industries), we will still get to explore how different filmmakers had to adapt and create onscreen plot devices that their audience would immediately understand. These plot devices became so popular that they got reused by multiple filmmakers through the years (which probably went on for decades) until they eventually became cliches. This documentary aims to show us a different side of Hollywood – the creative minds of its filmmakers.

The trailer which was released an hour ago looks quite interesting. Rob Lowe delves right into the topic but he is quickly joined by other actors, filmmakers, critics such as Richard E. Grant, Andrew Garfield, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Francine Stock, Jack Howard and more, who all give their inputs about a particular cliche.

The upcoming one-hour documentary special, ‘The Attack of The Hollywood Cliches!’ will premiere on Netflix on September 28th 2021.
