Robin Wright Joins Tom Hanks for Graphic Novel Adaptation ‘Here’

Earlier this year, we had made our readers aware of the ‘Forrest Gump’ actor-director duo Tom Hanks and Robert Zemeckis teaming up once again for an upcoming film adaptation based on the legendary comic book artist Richard McGuire’s graphic novel ‘Here’.

In yet another exciting update, Tom Hanks’ ‘Forrest Gump’ co-star and ‘House of Cards’ actress Robin Wright will also star in the film adaptation ‘Here’. And this would be the first time since the 1994 cult film ‘Forrest Gump’ that Tom Hanks, Robert Zemeckis, and Robin Wright will be working together along with screenwriter Eric Roth. Eric Roth is co-writing the new film along with Robert Zemeckis, who will direct.

Sony Pictures has landed the U.S. distribution rights for the film adaptation of Richard McGuire’s graphic novel ‘Here’, which is gearing up to be presented before prospective buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Market. The film’s production is slated to commence this September.

Hopefully, their new film will create the same magic as ‘Forrest Gump’ did 28 years ago. The movie had six Oscar awards including Best Picture, Best Director (Robert Zemeckis), Best Actor (Tom Hanks), and Best Adapted Screenplay (Eric Roth). Considering Robert Zemeckis and Tom Hanks’ spectacular filmographies and the global popularity of Richard McGuire’s graphic novel, expectations for the film adaptation of ‘Here’ are naturally off the charts.

Coming back to Richard McGuire’s graphic novel ‘Here’, it is based on the author’s pathbreaking 1989 comic strip of the same name. The novel’s story revolves around a particular corner of a particular room, and it showcases the happenings and inhabitants of that room over the course of hundreds and thousands of years comprising the past, present, and the future.

Robert Zemeckis (Director – Back to the Future, Contact) is currently busy with the post-production work of the live-action adaptation of Disney’s ‘Pinocchio’, also starring Tom Hanks.

While Tom Hanks’ other forthcoming movies include Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley film, Wes Anderson’s star-studded venture ‘Asteroid City’, and the comedy-drama film ‘A Man Called Otto’. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on Robert Zemeckis’ film adaptation of Richard McGuire’s graphic novel ‘Here’ starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright.
