Karan Johar is back to doing what he does best! After the longest time of merely producing films, the maverick director is directing a film. The film in question is ‘Rocky Aur RaniKi Prem Kahani’, starring Karan’s favourite Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. What’s more, Karan Johar also revealed the release date of the film on his social media handles, along with a short teaser for it. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani arrives in theatres on 23rd February, 2023.
The short teaser for Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani reveals that the film is studded with all of Karan Johar’s trademark cinematic elements – lavish sets, protagonists from the social upper crust of India, over-the-top drama, lovable characters—lots of them, extravagant song sequences, and of course, dreamy romance. Jaya Bachchan returns to the Dharma Movies fold, playing grandmother to Ranveer Singh’s character. One cute scene in the teaser recreates Jaya’s iconic scene from K3G where she welcomes Shahrukh Khan‘s Rahul with an Aarti thali.
We catch a glimpse of the legendary Dharmendra, making his appearance in a film after a long time, and looking oh-so-lovable at that. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani also stars Shabana Azmi. Dharam Paaji and Shabana Azmi play grandparents to Alia’s character in the film.
