Karan Johar is all set for his directorial comeback with the upcoming romantic comedy movie titled ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the titular roles. After a spate of delays, the movie will finally be released in theatres on 28th July and also features veteran actors Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan (in an intense role) and Shabana Azmi. With around a month left for the film’s release, the makers have now unveiled the first teaser of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’.
‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ teaser has Karan Johar’s brand of cinema stamped all over it. And it looks like the ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ helmer is back in the groove with yet another vibrant, family-centric and emotionally charged romantic drama with pure entertainment and melodrama at its core. The teaser gives us a sneak-peek into Rocky and Rani’s love story and the conflict that arises. The music and the visuals (including Alia Bhatt in stunning chiffon sarees) of the film are up to the mark and Arijit Singh’s ‘Tum Kya Mile’ song sounds mellifluous. We are now eagerly waiting for the film’s trailer to get a better idea about the plot.
Although nothing concrete is known about the film’s precise plot details until now, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ is said to revolve around a boy from an affluent family (played by Ranveer Singh), who falls in love with a middle-class woman (played by Alia Bhatt). But their parents are not happy with their romantic relationship. Seems like a modern-day and fresh rendition based on a tried-and-tested and age-old plot.
Alia Bhatt, who made her debut as a lead actress in Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year’, is still riding high after successful films like ‘Brahmastra: Part One Shiva’, ‘Darlings’, ‘RRR’, and ‘Gangubhai Kathiawadi’. However, Ranveer Singh hasn’t been in great form of late as his last two films ‘Cirkus’ and ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ turned out to be commercial failures. So, now, it would be interesting to see whether the lead pairing of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ can recreate the same magic as they did in ‘Gully Boy’. Verdict will be out on 28th July.
