Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus is one of the last bollywood releases of the year. This upcoming Indian Hindi-language period comedy drama film releases on 23rd December coinciding with Christmas Eve. The trailer of the film released on the first week of December to mixed reception. Binged has learnt about the streaming rights of the film. According to verified sources the digital rights of Cirkus were bagged by Netflix India. In fact the digital partner Netflix’s logo is revealed in the latest posters of the film as well.
Cirkus is based on William Shakespeare’s play ‘The Comedy of Errors’ and supposedly a remake of iconic hindi film ‘Angoor’ which was also based on ‘The Comedy of Errors’. Cirkus follows two sets of twins, separated post birth. The film follows a spree of confusion and problems the twins face once they meet after a gap of years. Ranveer Singh plays a double role in the film, for the first time in his career.
Cirkus is directed and produced by Rohit Shetty. The film is jointly bankrolled by Rohit Shetty Productionz and T-Series. The film stars Ranveer Singh in a dual role alongside Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez and Varun Sharma. It also features Deepika Padukone in a special dance number ‘Current Laga Re’ and Ajay Devgn in a special appearance. Unlike previous films of Rohit Shetty, Cirkus hasn’t managed to create quite a buzz amongst his target audience so far and everything rides on the quality of the film and word of mouth now. Let’s wait for the final verdict this Friday. Stay tuned for more updates.
