According to reports, Rohit Shetty’s Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Singham Again’, the next one in their ‘Singham’ franchise, has now got a release date. The makers are eyeing for the lucrative Diwali 2024 holiday season to release ‘Singham Again’. The filming for this same is scheduled to begin in July this year.
While there has been ko official word on the film from the makers, the much awaited sequel was confirmed last December and work on the same was supposed to begin soon after Ajay Devgn was done with his upcoming film ‘Bholaa’.
It was also announced later that Deepika Padukone is another big name attached to ‘Singham Again’ and she wouldn’t just be the female presence on screen for namesake. Deepika will herself play the role of a cop in the film and this makes her the first female actress to play the role of a police officer in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe that has been dominated by actors like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh.
‘Singham Again’ is the third instalment in the franchise post ‘Singham’ (2011) and ‘Singham Returns’ (2014). Both the previous films were a massive box office blockbuster and the same is expected from this upcoming sequel.
‘Singham’ franchise is part of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe that includes films, web series, animated series and games. Other films of this universe include Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Simmba’ and Akshay Kumar led ‘Suryavanshi’ while the web series is an upcoming Amazon Prime Video original ‘Indian Police Force’ starring Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty and Vivek Oberoi.
