The makers of RRR have dropped the much-anticipated update on the theatrical release date of the film. “If the pandemic situation in the country gets better and all theatres open up to operate at full capacity, we are ready to release the film on 18th March 2022. Otherwise, RRR Movie will release on 28th April 2022,” the statement from the makers read. While the March release slot looks likely, given the current Covid situation. The 28 April slot is more likely to materialize.
If RRR does lock the 28 April slot, then it will be taking on other biggies like KGF 2 and Beast which have already locked the April release slot. The makers of KGF had already announced that the film will be releasing on 14th April. The makers of Thalapathy Vijay‘s Beast have also confirmed that the film will be releasing in April.
But given the Covid third wave and the subsequent effect on theatrical release plans of several biggies, many pan-India biggies, including KGF and RRR will inevitably face competition from other biggies as way too many films are gearing up for release in the next few months. But the fact that KGF 2, RRR, and Beast will all be releasing in April is turning many heads.
As it appears, the makers of RRR are ready to take on the above-mentioned biggies. As things stand, RRR will be releasing either on 18 March or 28 April, and KGF 2 will be out on 14 April. Beast will also be releasing sooner or later in April.
