Rubina Dilaik to Star in Short Film on Female Infanticide, Made by Hubby Abhinav Shukla

Rubina Dilaik is the latest telly-town actress to test digital waters. The Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki actress is poised to appear in a digital short film, titled Bareilly Ki Beti – The Youngest Survivor, to be produced by hubby Abhinav Shukla.

The short film will be a powerful piece of work against the very real and heinous practice of female infanticide that is rampant across the country, irrespective of place. It happens in villages, towns and even large cities like Mumbai and Delhi.

The short film is inspired by the real-life incident that occurred several months ago in the town of Bareilly. A young couple dug a grave to bury their stillborn baby and were shocked out of their wits to find a newborn still-alive baby girl buried at the spot, two or three feet below the ground. Thankfully, she was still breathing and timely intervention saved her from certain death.

The story is so poignant and moving that it deserved relating to a larger audience. Abhinav Shukla, who’s also a successful actor and model, stepped in to do the needful. He then roped in wife Rubina, who too was touched by the story.

The short film also stars Pranay Dixit and Tanya Abrol in crucial roles. Bareilly Ki Beti is produced in association with Medicine Box Productions.
