Russo Bros are known for high-octane action films like Avengers: Endgame, The Gray Man, and more. Given their extremely successful collaboration with Marvel, some fans desperately want them to return to the Marvel studios. But, the filmmakers have clarified that they are not going to associate back with Marvel until the end of the decade. Which obviously is gonna take a long long time now.
Regardless, after making original films at Netflix, the Bros are now partnering with Disney to make a live-action movie.
But Disney being Disney can’t help but come out of its obsession with classic characters. The new collaboration with Russo Bros is about reimagining the epic character of Hercules.
The Russo Brothers said that this Hercules will be less close to the 1997 adaptation and more of an experimental project. They will be collaborating with celebrated director Guy Ritchie who helmed the 2019 version of Aladdin starring Will Smith.
Obviously, a typical Disney movie is always a musical but the take of Bros on this musical is strange.
“There are questions about how you translate it as a musical. Audiences today have been trained by TikTok, right? What is their expectation of what that musical looks like and feels like? That can be a lot of fun and help us push the boundaries a little bit on how you execute a modern musical,” said Anthony Russo.
Tik Tok, Reels, etc are very polarizing. While some people hail it as a revolutionizing platform for content creation, some people loathe the very abundance of content available on it.
How they execute a musical inspired by Tik Tok is going to be interesting as the premise itself becomes more tempting.
