Having left his impression most recently on the entire world as Ken in the highly acclaimed ‘Barbie’ in 2023, multiple-award-winning Canadian actor Ryan Gosling has an impressive slate of genre-spanning movies accredited to his name.
His upcoming project ‘Project Hail Mary’ will be a feature film based on the 2021 science fiction novel by renowned author Andy Weir, who is also known for ‘The Martian’. Set in the near future, the novel centers around school teacher-turned-astronaut Ryland Grace, who wakes up from a coma afflicted with amnesia. The catch: he soon remembers that he was sent 12 light-years away from the Earth to save humanity from a potential cataclysm.
The directing duo, Phil Lord and Chris Miller were influenced by their experiences while directing ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’. The result? A long-awaited Gosling-led project finally set to release in theatres in 2026.
Following Barbie, Gosling will take on the role of veteran stuntman Colt Seaver in David Leitch’s adaptation of the 1980s series ‘The Fall Guy’, where he stars alongside Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Winston Duke, and Stephanie Hsu. As for Lord and Miller, they have many of their projects waiting in development alongside the likes of Gosling’s Wolf Man reimagining.
With a promising actor-director(s) combination, we can only hope that ‘Project Hail Mary’ will live up to its long-awaited hype!
