Ryan Murphy’s musical drama was in talks since it’s production began. Since the movie is based on the 2016 award winning musical Broadway show. What fueled to the hype was casting which was announced in 2019 that Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, James Gorden, Andrew Rannells are gonna star in the Netflix’s original film. This film is supposed to be the first one under the deal of Murphy with Netflix which was worth $300million.
His other works in this deal are :- Season 2 of The Politician, Ratched, The Boys In The Band and Hollywood. The movie suffered a setback when it was still in the shooting stages when Coronavirus hit the world thus prompting the makers to halt the shoot for the movie. But now with safety measures, shooting has been completed and the movie is set to release after some final touch ups.
The story of the film revolves around the four Broadway actors who have been past their prime and are looking back on their days of fame and popularity since their recent works have not been received well and this has questioned their existence in this field. They travel to this town called Edgewater in Indiana which is a little bit conservative in their approach. They meet Emma Nolan who is a teenager and a lesbian, she is distraught after knowing that she cannot bring her girlfriend to the prom because of the town’s opinions and the four veterans try to help her in doing so.
Ryan Murphy recently took to his social media and announced the date of the movie. He posted an official poster of the film which had the lead cast written over it and in the caption the release date. The Netflix original movie is set to arrive on 11th December 2020.
