Ryan Reynolds Now Owns A Football Club!!!

After months of speculation and a couple of bids later, ‘Deadpool’ star Ryan Reynolds and ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ star Rob McElhenney have been given the green light to complete the takeover of the football club, Wrexham AFC – a Welsh club currently sitting in the fifth tier of English Football. This happened a month after the WST (Wrexham Supporters Trust) was given a proposal by the duo covering their plans for the club, which included an immediate injection of 2 million pounds upon completion of the purchase.

Wrexham is the third oldest professional club in the world, having been around for 156 years, since 1864. Wrexham along with Cardiff City, Swansea and Newport are the only Welsh teams still allowed to participate in the English football pyramid, despite the formation of the League of Wales in 1992. Reynolds has called Wrexham, a sleeping giant and he plans to take the club up the ladder of English Football Leagues and make it a “global force”.

WST gave an overwhelming show of support to the takeover with over 98% of members voting for the buyout. Both actors and the club have spread the news of the takeover on social media. In fact, both Reynolds and McElhenney created a funny ad which talked about their purchase in a roundabout way. Check out the video of the advertisement down below.

On a separate note, Reynold has hit the ground running even since he started his business ventures and he doesn’t seem to be stopping. The actor-entrepreneur has made some really smart buys as of late and seems to be well on his way to create a business brand of his own (if he hasn’t had one already). The Canadian actor is expected to come on the big screen in 2021’s ‘Free Guy’.
