Character Posters of Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt for their new movie “Sadak 2”, were revealed yesterday on Alia Bhatt’s twitter handle. This movie is the sequel to Mahesh Bhatt’s 1991 film “Sadak” which also starred Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt.
But amid the controversy of Sushant Singh Rajput’s passing, mainly with regards to the prevalence of nepotism in Bollywood, the poster drop just added fuel to the fire that is this ‘rampage of righteous rage’. Nepometer, an app launched by Sushant’s family, is said to determine how much nepotism plays a part in creating a movie. And Nepometer had projected 98% nepotism among the main cast and crew of “Sadak 2”.
“Sadak 2” stars Alia Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt who are both daughters of the film director Mahesh Bhatt who is also directing this film. It also stars ‘insiders’ Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapur and this has caused the poster drop to be severely mocked and trolled online. The “Student of The Year” actor has had to switch off the comment sections of her major social media accounts of Instagram and Twitter as a result.
“Sadak 2” had to forgo it’s theatrical release due to the ongoing lockdown and has opted for a digital release instead. The movie will release on Disney+Hotstar starting August 28th. This has created an uproar among Sushant’s fans and on Monday the hashtag #UninstallHotstar started trending on twitter with several people told to boycott the Bhatt project.
“Sadak 2” is Mahesh Bhatt’s return to film making after nearly 2 decades of hiatus. This will also be the first film in which he is working with his daughter Alia.
