SonyLIV is making all right choices when it comes to bagging rights of malayalam and tamil movies off-late. The streamer bought acclaimed tamil titles like ‘Nenjuku Needhi’ and the internationally acclaimed rural drama ‘Kadaisi Vivasayi’ and ‘Gargi’ expectedly followed the suit. This Sai Pallavi helmed legal drama will reportedly stream on SonyLIV from August 12th. Gargi was released on 15 July and opened to extremely rave reviews from critics who praised the cast performances, the script, the direction and the social takeaway of the film.
In this Intense courtroom drama, Sai Pallavi plays ‘Gargi‘, a dutiful daughter who is about to get married. Gargi is a teacher in the movie with a loving family. Her life turns upside down when her father who works as a watchman is arrested in a false sexual assault case of a minor. She goes to lengths to deliver justice to her father and this forms the crux of the film.
Gargi is jointly written by Hariharan Raju and Gautham Ramachandran and directed by Gautham Ramachandran. The film is bankrolled by Blacky, Genie & My Left Foot Productions. Sai Pallavi and Kaali Venkat are the major protagonists of the movie. The film’s music is composed by Govind Vasantha and cinematography handled by Sraiyanti and Premkrishna Akkatu. The editing done by Shafique Mohamed Ali. The film although didn’t emerge as an outright successful venture, the distribution rights were covered enough in the collections that came from first two weeks.
