The latest gem from Disney+ Hotstar, director Pavan Kripalani’s ‘Bhoot Police’ starring Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Yami Gautam has proved to be a raging success. With 3.3 million (33 lakh) impressions, the film is currently the most watched movie/series across all OTT platforms these past few days. ‘Bhoot Police’ was earlier to release on 17th September, but was preponed to the 10th, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi and has been receiving much love since then. The success of the film has made the makers plan a spin off and turn it into a franchise.
The plot of ‘Bhoot Police’ revolves around the lead actors Saif and Arjun, as Vibhooti and Chiraunji, two ghost-hunters who have ‘fought’ their share of ghosts. However, a new case forces them to rethink their abilities and beliefs. The film filled with comedy, drama, entertainment, a touch of emotion and a fresh angle has proven a perfect blend to enthrall audiences.
“The template of ‘Bhoot Police’ allows the makers to spin it into a franchise. While the makers had kept an open ending to hint at the possibility of a sequel, we hear that the team has already started early conversations on Bhoot Police 2. The idea is to continue the franchise bringing horror and humor together and making the ghost hunter face new challenges in different terrains of India,” claims a source close to the team.
Producer, Ramesh Taurani, confirmed the development, speaking to a popular media platform saying, “Yes, we are definitely planning a sequel to ‘Bhoot Police‘. The audience is enjoying the first part and I am looking forward to take it forward with the team.” Incidentally, ‘Bhoot Police’ will mark the second franchise of producer Ramesh Taurani after ‘Race’. Although, apparently there is a higher possibility of ‘Race 4’ being made before the horror-comedy sequel, since the scripting of the action-thriller is already underway.
