Salaar Teaser Hits Record High Views Despite Angry Fans

The first teaser for the hotly anticipated Prabhas film ‘Salaar’ dropped on social media this morning, at the unearthly hour of 5:12 am. And ever since then, the teaser has shattered multiple records for maximum number of views garnered by a movie teaser. At last count, the Salaar teaser has raked in 38 millions views in 12 hours, the highest views for any teaser in Indian cinema.

The astonishing views count for the Salaar teaser is despite the sheer number of Prabhas fans who have inundated social media with posts, expressing their disappointment with the Salaar teaser. The number of posts on Twitter that are ‘disappointed’ with the Salaar teaser has reached such a crescendo that ‘Disappointed’ has been trending on Twitter India — at Number 1, no less.

What has really gotten fans worked up is the fact that the Salaar teaser is a blatant imitation of the monster hit movies KGF and KGF Chapter 2, also by Salaar director Prashanth Neel. Film buffs say Prashanth Neel has no new tricks up his sleeve, and is just rehashing the success formula of his own KGF film franchise.

Yet other fans are irked at the fact that Hombale Films, the makers of Salaar, have done film fans a disservice by promising Salaar as a pan-India film that will release in multiple Indian languages of Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi, but have released the Salaar teaser only in the Telugu language. Why not release the Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi versions of Salaar teaser too, they ask.

Finally, Prabhas fans are super pissed off at Salaar makers for giving them such a teeny tiny glimpse of Prabhas, with not even a single clear and proper shot of the actor in the Salaar teaser. They say Tinnu Anand has stolen the show completely in the Salaar teaser and Prabhas is like a side actor in the teaser.

Prabhas’ Salaar will release in theatres in two parts, quite like Allu Arjun’s Pushpa. The first part of Salaar is titled Salaar: The Ceasefire. It will release in theatres on 28th September, 2023, in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
