The final trailer for Ryan Reynold, Samuel L. Jackson and Salma Hayek’s upcoming action thriller ‘Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard‘ released a few hours ago on multiple social media websites. The trailer gives us a rarely seen look at Salma Hayek’s comedic chops and she is quite funny during the short time she appears in the promotional video. Salma Hayek is brilliant in every role she is in. Which is true. We have seen her being daring, sensitive, insensitive, a foul-mouthed bad-ass, among many other things in her very extensive acting career. But it is rare, we get to see her in comedic roles, and even rarer to see her in all the above described roles in one movie – but that’s exactly what she does in this movie.
Hayek and Ryan Reynold‘s characters are shown to be stuck in a grass-filled meadow. Lionsgate Movies aptly titling the short trailer “Lullaby” (on their YouTube channel), we get a short clip of Hayek singing a profanity filled lullaby at an unconscious Reynolds, trying to get him to wake up. This short is quickly followed by another short, where Reynolds uses Hayek’s breasts to push her aside, to save her from an incoming bullet. This short is followed by Hayek hilariously talking about the incident to Reynolds where she tells Reynolds that he was crying for his mommy. Hayek is an International acting treasure and these few clips “kinda” prove it.
Action films are usually only as good as their cast. But as ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’ proved, Reynolds and Jackson are a win. Giving us more of Hayek is just bonus and we will happily take it. The film is coming out earlier than its IMAX release, next month and we couldn’t be happier
‘Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard‘ will premiere in theatres on June 11th and 12th (depending on the country). It will release on IMAX on June 16th 2021.
