Sam Bahadur On ZEE5: Success Exposes Big Bollywood Problem

On the occasion of Republic Day, we saw the release of Sam Bahadur on ZEE5. A brilliantly made patriotic movie based on the occasion is everything people asked for. And it has translated into a big success at Netflix.

ZEE5 Global’s latest big achievement in the streaming world is the success of “Sam Bahadur,” a movie about India’s first Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw. It’s now the most popular Hindi movie opening weekend on the platform.

The film stars Vicky Kaushal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and has been a hit worldwide. In just three days after its online release, it beat the records set by other big movies like “Gadar 2” and “Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai.”

So, it is not just Animal making waves on OTT but also Sam Bahadur. While ZEE5 Global hasn’t shared specific numbers, people from over 190 countries have watched “Sam Bahadur.”

Directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Productions, the movie’s triumph shows that we still have insane potential in making patriotic movies. Normally the pinnacle of war and patriotic films are assumed to be bashing Pakistan. But, there is so much more to explore than the narratives we get in films like Fighter.

Although Sam Bahadur is a proper war biopic, there is an insane potential lying untapped in the genre of patriotic films that nobody is exploring.
