As the The Family Man 2 release date arrives nearer, the craze and anticipation for the show has reached a frenzy. The well-received spy drama is loved by audiences for its quirky humour, thrilling storyline and superb performances by the entire cast. The sequel promises more of the above in generous measures. However, there’s a most intriguing aspect of the sequel to the hit Amazon Prime Video show, The Family Man, apart from Manoj Bajpayee, aka Shrikant Tiwari, of course. And that is the casting of Samantha Akkineni as the primary antagonist in The Family Man 2.
We chatted with Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK about The Family Man 2, and particularly, Samantha Akkineni‘s casting in the series. Interestingly enough, the story behind how Raj & DK, as the duo is called, zeroed in on Samantha Akkineni for the pivotal role is a compelling one. When asked to elaborate, they replied, “We were sure that we wanted only a south star for this role. When we watched Super Deluxe, we were bowled over by Samantha’s performance.”
Well, that is a classic case of good work done in the past leading to great prospects in the future. And Samantha really was quite impressive in Super Deluxe.
Samantha Akkineni’s role in The Family Man 2 is a topic of great interest among viewers. There’s a lot of speculation going around social media regarding her role, ever since Raj & DK posted her first look from The Family Man 2 on their Instagram. Naxalite, LTTE, the Indian Army are some of the guesses fans have made as to her identity in the show.
When asked about Samantha’s role in The Family Man 2, Raj & DK shared, “The role that Samantha is doing in the series is quite bold and edgy. When we first approached her for the role, we were quite spectical about how she would react. But when we narrated the character, she was game for all the aspects. We were both shocked and pleased with her reaction, and we roped her in.”
Regarding Samantha’s performance in The Family Man 2, Raj & DK say, “Samantha Akkineni in The Family Man 2 will shock everyone. The way she’s pulled off the boldness and edginess of her character and given her best to the role is exemplary”.
