Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock (Gravity, Bird Box) is busy these days promoting and giving interviews for her recently released film ‘The Lost City’. In one such interaction, the 57-year-old star had expressed her willingness regarding which actor should step into the shoes of the popular superhero character Wolverine after Hugh Jackman made his final appearance in the widely acclaimed 2017 film ‘Logan’.
And the actor that Sandra Bullock wants to see as Wolverine is none other than her co-star from ‘The Lost City’ – Daniel Radcliffe. In an interview with It’s Gone Viral, Sandra Bullock has stated that “Wolverine people, can you please just f***ing cast him. Just do it. Stop tiptoeing around and having people ask at press junkets. Just cast the man.”
Incidentally, this is not the first time that the ‘Harry Potter’ star has been pitched to be the next Wolverine. Because speculations about Daniel Radcliffe playing the powerful mutant have been doing the rounds for a few years. Although there is still no confirmation in this regard, it seems that Daniel Radcliffe is all game to take on the prestigious mantle from Huge Jackman in case he is offered the coveted role.
Wolverine’s character, essayed by Hugh Jackman, first made his big-screen appearance in the original X-men trilogy namely ‘X-Men’ (2000), ‘X2’ (2003), and ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’. Jackman continued his tryst with the anti-hero character in the Wolverine trilogy – ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ (2009), ‘’The Wolverine’ (2013), and finally ‘Logan’ (2017).
Previously, the film rights for X-Men were held by 20th Century Fox studios since 1994. However, in 2019, the film rights for both X-Men and Fantastic Four were obtained by Marvel Studios. Since then, the internet has been flooded with speculations about Wolverine’s appearance in the MCU, and Daniel Radcliffe seems to be amongst the fan-favorite top contenders to play the part.
Until now, neither Marvel nor Daniel Radcliffe has confirmed these speculations about the latter’s casting as Wolverine. But haven’t we seen similar blatant denials to maintain secrecy about their MCU appearance in the past? Remember Andrew Garfield’s casting in Spider-Man: No Way Home?
So, with Marvel, it’s indeed ‘Never Say Never’ and the same holds true for Daniel Radcliffe’s potential portrayal as Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After playing a negative role in ‘The Lost City’, Daniel Radcliffe will next be seen in the titular role in the biographical comedy movie ‘Weird: The Al Yankovic Story’.
