Sarkaru Vaari Paata Dropped on Amazon Prime Video and Made No Noise?

The much anticipated telugu language action drama ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata‘ starring Mahesh Babu dropped on Amazon Prime last week. This Parasuram directorial released at the theatres on 12th May, 2022 to mixed critical reception and praise for Mahesh Babu’s performance. However, the film was still a commercial box-office success, all thanks to Mahesh Babu’s humungous stardom in telugu speaking states.

However what is surprising is that the film grossed over 200 crores against a budget of 60 crores and still made little to no noise once it released on Amazon Prime Video. This goes on to show that critical reception could in fact be right and probably whatever the film collected commercially was due to Mahesh Babu‘s star value. The last time a Mahesh Babu film was adored and watched even after theatrical run was 1: Nenokkadine (2014) and Srimanthudu in 2015. Which is in fact disappointing because perhaps with a better script, some of these superstars could bring the sun down at the box-office in comparison to the average and above average verdicts their mediocre films fetch today purely banking on their stardom.

The film revolves around the conflict between a financer named Mahi (played by Mahesh Babu) who gets conned by his girlfriend Kalavathi (Keerthy Suresh) and the her politician father and sets out to get his money back. Due process Mahi decides to recover the amount Kalavathi’s father gulped by tricking a bank manager and also expose the fault lines that run deep within the Indian banking system.

Sarkaru Vaari Paata stars Mahesh Babu, Keerthy Suresh and Samuthirakani in major roles with Nadiya Moidu, Subbaraju and Vennela Kishore playing supporting parts. The film’s background score and soundtrack is composed by Thaman S. Cinematography is done by R Madhi and editing performed by Marthand K Venkatesh respectively. It’s high time big stars also realise a film is not only the bucks it earned but also the audience it wins over. A good film will somehow find acceptance amongst streaming audience while a bad film will most likely never find it.
