Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night! The first trailer for Jason Reitman’s Saturday Night Live biopic, titled ‘Saturday Night’, is out now. The movie features an all-star ensemble, consisting of talents such as Gabriel LaBelle (Lorne Michaels), Cory Michael Smith (Chevy Chase), Cooper Hoffman (Dick Ebersol), Dylan O’Brien (Dan Aykroyd), Rachel Sennott (Rosie Shuster), Ella Hunt (Gilda Radner), Lamorne Morris (Garrett Morris), Matthew Rhys (George Carlin), Jon Batiste (Billy Preston), and more.
Apart from these sensational talents, the movie also treasures veterans J. K. Simmons (Milton Berle) and Willem Dafoe (David Tebet). Set in 1975, the movie adapts the events that led to the successful premiere of NBC’s Saturday Night Live.
The latest ‘Saturday Night’ trailer commences with Finn Wolfhard (Ghostbusters movies and Stranger Things) appearing as an NBC page, trying hard to distribute free tickets to passersby to the first taping of the show. However, we also hear him say “Plenty of tickets left guys, free show! F—’s sake,” after no one takes the tickets from him.
We also witness SNL executive producer Lorne Michaels giving everything he has to give his most precious product a successful television release. Things certainly look not easy for Michaels as he has to tackle the unpredictable tantrums thrown by his eccentric cast members and grumbling studio executives. ‘The Fabelmans’ fame Gabriel LaBelle plays Michaels with perfection. Apart from him, we see Cory Michael Smith literally living and breathing Chevy Chase. Smith is best known for his work in Fox’s Gotham series.
“At 11:30pm on October 11, 1975, a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers changed television – and culture – forever.” – Sony’s official premise for the movie.
Reitman’s ‘Saturday Night’ will be released on October 11, 2024, exactly 49 years after the premiere of the first-ever episode of SNL. Stay tuned for more updates. Enjoy the trailer below!
