‘Saw X’ Springs A Pleasant Surprise. Is It The Best Saw Movie Ever?

‘Saw X’, the tenth instalment of the long-standing ‘Saw’ horror franchise, was released in Indian theatres yesterday. But the question that was on everyone’s minds was: Was another ‘Saw’ movie really needed? Are the diehard fans of the first ‘Saw’ movie helmed by James Wan really interested in seeing another ‘Saw’ film? Especially because of how multiple critics gave their thumbs-down to the ninth film of the horror franchise ‘Spiral’ and how the last nine ‘Saw’ films have failed to match the quality of the first film.

However, it looks like the makers of the ‘Saw’ franchise have sprung a pleasant surprise for horror movie buffs with the latest ‘Saw’ film ‘Saw X’. The film has received an impressive critics’ score of 84% on reviews aggregation portal Rotten Tomatoes. And in general, ‘Saw X’ has got mostly positive feedback from critics.

So, is ‘Saw X’ even better than James Wan’s first ‘Saw’ movie in terms of critics’ score? You’ll be surprised to know that the Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score of James Wan’s ‘Saw’ is much lower at just 50% than Saw X’s 84%.

Other ‘Saw’ films have got an even lower score than the parent film, which has still got a cult following from a huge segment of audiences despite an average critics’ score. The next eight ‘Saw’ films (Saw 2 to Saw 9), after the first film, currently hold a below average to poor Rotten Tomatoes critics scores of 37%, 30%, 18%, 13%, 39%, 9%, 32%, and 37%, respectively.

So, as you can see, ‘Saw X’ is currently the highest rated movie from the franchise as of now on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the fact that ‘Saw X’ has been directed by Kevin Greutert, who had also helmed the seventh ‘Saw’ film ‘Saw 3D’, which is the lowest rated Saw movie ever.

‘Saw X’ takes place after the events of the first ‘Saw’ movie and before ‘Saw II’. The film’s story follows John Kramer (Tobin Bell), who is desperately seeking a cure for his cancer. He finds out about an experimental procedure for the disease, but it turns out to be a scam. Armed with a newly found purpose, John makes it his mission to deliver justice in his signature style to the persons behind the scam.
