Saw XI Is Hit With A Year-long Delay

Talking about the Saw franchise, it is undoubtedly one of the most prized possessions of Lionsgate films. Talking about the box-office run of these films, they are always a hit. With smaller budgets, barely grossing $20M, the films never disappoint. Last year, Saw X landed in theaters on September 29th, 2023.

Talking about the reception and box office, Saw X gets the tag of being “one of the best” in the franchise and grosses $112M with a budget of $13M.

Earlier this year, Lionsgate also confirmed its OTT release, and it was also confirmed that the rave must go on. Thus, we were getting a new Saw film, Saw XI, this year. They set up the release for September 27th, 2024, but now, it faces a setback.

Due to the new update of the content slate of Lionsgate, they are making a year-long delay for Saw 11.

See, the films are usually very minimalist and don’t really require major sets or complicated filming. Though prop making and editing are two of the most exciting aspects of the film, it is not the most time-consuming. Though the 2024 September release date was a bit surprising, one year looked like a gap that was too short, so they eventually changed the unachievable deadline.

As per the new release date, Saw 11 will be released on September 26th, 2025.

This shifting of the release date will definitely be beneficial for Lionsgate. See, the original sequels had the same notion of yearly releases, and all of them were abominable. Saw X made an exception, took its time, and is probably the best of the franchise. If Saw XI manages to deliver in 2025, the Saw franchise might get a major revival. Saw lives on for now.
