Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story debuted on Sony LIV recently and the show is being loved by critics and fans alike.
The reviews have been generally positive regarding the show with critics giving it a thumbs up. While we know that at the end, audience is the king and they too have welcomed the show with open arms.
Scam 1992 which is directed by Hansal Mehta, tells the story about the ‘big bull’ of financial market, Harshad Mehta who was known as the ‘Bachchan of BSE’ in his prime time. With his sharp brain and shrewd tactics he pulled off a huge scam from the Indian financial market worth ₹3000 crore making it to be one of the most widely publicized scam in the nation. As we told you earlier that people in India love true crime stories and when a dramatized version of it is presented in front of them they naturally and absolutely love it and hence people are wondering whether a season 2 of the show will come out.
What Can Season 2 Be About?
The makers actually have struck gold by bringing the series into the Indian market.
While the story of Harshad Mehta ended on a satisfactory note showing all the major highlights of his life, there is no sense in dragging his story forward.
And thus the makers can probably turn the show into an anthology series showing several scams that happened in the past of the nation. We all know Scam 1992 was based on the book by Sucheta Dalal and her husband Debashis Basu titled “The Scam: Who Won, who Lost, who Got Away”. She has also worked in earthing out several other scams as well. Most widely known out of them is the 2001 Ketan Parekh Scam.
Hence the makers can target the story of Ketan Parekh going into their second season. Ketan Parekh is a stockbroker who used to artificially hike the prices of shares of certain companies which were referred to as K-10 stocks. Reportedly he the amount involved in this scam was around ₹40000 crores.
And why do we think that Ketan Parekh’s story will be season 2’s plot? Well just for the reason that Ketan Parekh was the protege of none other than the ‘big bull’ Harshad Mehta. And if the show’s reputation builds up, then the makers can cover several scams like Satyam Scam, National Spot Exchange Scam, IDBI scam and several other scams committed by notable personalities.
When It Will Arrive?
If the makers decide to start off the things quickly, one might expect the show to be out in the same time next year. But again due to restrictions in shooting, it might be difficult for the makers to complete the shoot on time. While no official confirmation about second season is out yet, so let’s wait for it.
