The official trailer of Greg Berlanti’s forthcoming ‘rom-com with a healthy dose of space drama’, Fly Me to the Moon, is out now. It features Scarlett Johansson as Kelly Jones, one of the important figures of NASA’s marketing team. The space organisation hires her to stage a fake moon landing in case things go wrong with the actual Lunar Mission to stay ahead of the Soviet Union. The film’s events take place in the 1960s, during the Space Race between the US and the Soviet Union.
Alongside Johansson, we see Channing Tatum playing Cole Davis, the launch director of the Lunar Mission. In the trailer, Cole meets Kelly in a diner. Their chemistry kicks off after the former informs Kelly about her book lighting up with fire. Apart from these two, the latest clip also shows talents like Ray Romano, Woody Harrelson, Jim Rash, and more.
Previously titled ‘Project Artemis’, Fly Me to the Moon boasts a staggering $100 million budget. Jason Bateman was supposed to helm this one, but left the project due to creative differences. Greg Berlanti stepped in as Bateman’s replacement.
Channing Tatum was not the first choice for the upcoming space plus romantic comedy. Chris Evans was selected for the role of Cole Davis, but he left the project due to scheduling issues. According to some reports, Evans left the film to focus on Netflix’s Pain Hustlers, featuring Emily Blunt.
Columbia Pictures (Sony) is handling the distribution of Fly Me to the Moon, produced by Apple Studios, These Pictures, and Berlanti-Schechter Films. It is scheduled for a theatrical release in the United States on July 12, 2024. Stay tuned for more updates. Check out the trailer below!
