Scarlett Johansson To Produce, Star In Live-Action ‘Tower Of Terror’ Disney Film

Marvel’s Black Widow Scarlett Johansson is taking the first steps to moving on from her erstwhile high-profile role as the beloved Marvel superhero. The consummate actress will produce a live-action film on the popular Disney Theme Park attraction, “Tower of Terror”. She will also have a starring role in the movie. This story was first broken by the online media publication, Collider.

The film is being produced by Scarlett Johansson under the aegis of her production company, These Pictures, along with Jonathan Lia, who’s earlier made Bruno Mars: That’s What I Like. Disney’s live-action Tower Of Terror is being written by Josh Cooley, who has earlier written the well-loved Disney Pixar film, Inside Out, and has directed Toy Story 4.

The film will be a live-action version of Disney’s Tower of Terror ride, which itself is based on the tv show, ‘The Twilight Zone’. The dark, fanciful ride, riddled with supernatural elements, culminates in a free-falling drop from a height. The ride was always a hit with Disneyland goers. There was another film based on the Tower Of Terror – a 1997 TV movie of the same name, starring Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst.

Other Disney movies that are based on popular Disneyland rides are the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise; the upcoming Dwayne Johnson – Emily Blunt starrer, Jungle Cruise; The Haunted Mansion; Tomorrowland; The Country Bears; Dinosaur, Mission To Mars, among others.
