For those who have watched the critically acclaimed Canadian science fiction thriller series ‘Orphan Black’ starring ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ star Tatiana Maslany might already be in the know that a spin-off titled ‘Orphan Black: Echoes’ was officially greenlit earlier this year in April. Later, in July, ‘Jessica Jones’ actress Krysten Ritter was cast in the show in the lead role. The spin-off series is slated to premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2023.
And now, in yet another important casting update, ‘Orphan Black: Echoes’ have roped in Amanda Fix and Avan Jogia in pivotal roles. Amanda Fix is a relative newcomer who made her acting debut with the 2021 drama film ‘Broken Diamonds’. And Avan Jogia’s recent acting credits include ‘Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City’ and ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’, amongst others.
‘Orphan Black: Echoes’ will comprise ten episodes and will be set in the near future. It will feature a new storyline, albeit in the same universe as its parent show ‘Orphan Black’. The show will delve into the concept of scientific manipulation of human existence. The plot would revolve around a group of women and how their lives intersect, leading to a thrilling journey of finding more about their mysterious identities. Although the precise plotline is still not known.
Both Krysten Ritter and Amanda Fix are expected to play the roles of one of these women Lucy and Jules, respectively. And Avan Jogia will essay the role of the former’s romantic interest Jack, who is an ex-army man and single father.
The Emmy-winning parent show ‘Orphan Black’ spanned five seasons (2013-2017) and followed the story of Sarah Manning (played by Tatiana Maslany), a street-smart woman hustler whose life takes a U-turn after she witnesses the suicide of a woman who is her exact replica. She assumes the dead woman’s identity only to discover a shocking secret about her own identity and her relationship with the deceased.
