Aneesh Chaganty’s brilliant new film ‘RUN’ is set to come out on November 20th 2020, on Hulu for the U.S. and Candian audiences. This film has been getting rave reviews already; one person on twitter admitting to wanting to watch the film because of the fact that the protagonist of the film is a person with a disability, who are usually severely under-represented in films. Twitter has been lighting up with anticipation for the film to drop while many Indian film buffs have asked the director about his plans to drop the film internationally (mainly here).
Just for the readers in India, Aneesh Chaganty is an up and coming American writer-director whose most notable work includes the brilliant ‘Searching’. ‘Searching’ has influenced one of the biggest OTT releases in India this year, the Fahadh Faasil thriller ‘C U Soon’. This extremely talented director is working with another brilliant screenwriter Sevak Ohanian (who he collaborated ‘Searching’ with) to bring ‘RUN’ on to OTTs.
Sarah Paulson has been commended for her performance, but we all knew her awesomeness already. This role just magnifies her brilliance and shows her range in depth, playing a deranged mother. But the newcomer, Kiera Allen deserves a special mention. She holds her own opposite Paulson and her performance has been nothing short of spectacular.
This film was ironically supposed to release in theaters on May 8th, 2020 – which was Mother’s Day. But due to the ongoing pandemic, the production house decided to release the film on the streaming platform, Hulu, only for the North American audience for now. Aneesh has replied to a query asked by an Indian film buff on twitter, saying that his team is trying to find an International distributor to launch the film. This reply was posted over a month back, so we are hoping for an announcement regarding the release of the film internationally on an OTT available in India, soon.
